Life in balance through grounding

Medical Considerations

Earthing (grounding) refers to the process of establishing conductive contact between the surface of the Earth and the surface of the human body to allow electrons to flow from the Earth and maintain the body at Earth potential. Research indicates that regular grounding restores and stabilises a natural state in the electrical functioning of the body, affects many physiological processes, reduces inflammation, and improves sleep and energy.
If you are under the care of a health professional, we strongly advise you to inform your practitioner about earthing because it can influence how you feel, your medical test results, and may possibly require adjustment in your medication. It is strongly recommended that individuals taking medication to thin the blood, regulate blood sugar, control blood pressure, or to regulate thyroid hormone levels, consult their health care provider before earthing.
Earthing influences thyroid function, so if you are on thyroid medication you may begin to feel symptoms of over-medication. Similarly, if you are on Coumadin, you need to know that earthing has a blood-thinning effect so there could be a compounded response, and too much blood thinning. You’ll need to monitor your blood carefully and above all consult with your doctor. We also know that the regulation of blood sugar improves, so if you take anti-diabetic medication you need to check with your doctor to see if a medication reduction is in order. Keep in mind also that earthing reduces inflammation, so if you are taking any anti-inflammatory medication please be sure to monitor your dosage with your doctor.

Whether you are barefoot on the ground outside, or earthing yourself indoors for many hours with any earthing system, we want you to have the best and safest experience possible.  If you have any doubts at all whether earthing may be safe for you, simply go out in your backyard, or to your nearest grassy park, or sandy beach, and sit/stand/walk barefoot for at least a half hour or forty minutes. Try to do it once or twice a day. Earthing indoors on conductive sheets, mats, or with bands, is the equivalent of being barefoot outdoors on the ground.  Your body is absorbing the same natural energy from the Earth.  It’s a simple experiment and often a surprising one.  People feel better and notice a difference in a short period of time.

Here is a videoclip showing what happens with live blood when earthing.

We are all different
Some people feel the effects of earthing almost instantaneously, others do not notice anything for weeks or even months. Don’t give up, it is working as soon as you establish direct contact with Earth. Initially some people may feel some temporary discomfort or even flu-like signs, nausea, pain or aches. In practically all cases, this experience is fleeting. We believe it is the result of a normalisation of the body’s “electrical system.” As the process gets underway, the body’s ability to release accumulated toxicity may improve and you could feel that as transient discomfort. Typically, after some initial adjustment, you start feeling better and more energised. The feeling might last a few days at the most but it will go away. If you are uncomfortable, stop earthing yourself for several days and then begin again, starting with shorter exposure and gradually increasing the exposure. In the majority of cases, no discomfort is felt at the beginning.
When you start earthing yourself regularly it is a good idea to first write a list of symptoms you have, how you feel, pains and aches, sleeping difficulties, allergies etc. Go back to the list once a week and write down any changes you experience. Grade pain and ache on a scale from 1 to 10 where 10 represents maximum. If you are in a period of high stress or disease it may counteract the benefits of earthing temporarily but do not give up, keep on being connected to Earth, the benefits are there.

Installation and use of grounding products

Ground rod. Without a doubt, the best way to ground the different products is to use the ground rod. Pull the cord out through the nearest window and place the ground rod in the earth, preferably where the earth is damp about 20 cm out from the wall. If there is a risk that children will pull the cord off the rod or that someone may trip over the cord then just bury the rod with connector on and the cord just below the surface. On a wooden house it’s easy to use small cable clamps to fasten the cord up to the window. On concrete buildings it is possible to use blu-tack or hot melt adhesive to fasten the cord. Place the cord in the corner of the window frame below the hinges and fasten with small cable clamps. It is also possible to drill a hole in the wall and pull the cord through but then it’s important to seal the hole well so no moisture can enter. It is possible to fasten the cord along a downpipe from the raingutter with cable ties or strong adhesive tape, especially if you live higher than the first floor. The cord that comes with the Evolution ground rod is 15 meters long and reach the second floor easily.

Ground clamp. This is a second choice for people living in high rises or city apartments where it is not possible or practical to use a ground rod. If your water pipes to the cold water tap or water heated radiators are of metal you can, after sanding away any paint, attach a ground clamp to the pipe and then attach the cord from your grounding sheet or other product to the socket on the ground clamp. As water systems are grounded this is a good way to get grounded

Adapter for the electrical outlet. In most countries it is acceptable to connect the earthing products with a specially designed plug to the electrical system of the building. This is true for most of Europe and North America. Sweden and Albania are countries with TN-C (Terra Neutral Common), or 4 wire systems. In such a system the ground and the zero phase are connected together and it is not recommended to ground yourself to a TN-C system. If you want to use the electrical system to ground yourself we recommend that you first use a ground tester designed to check so that the ground is properly connected. That way you can be sure that you have a functioning ground connection. We sell a ground tester designed to check so that the ground is properly connected. However, we recommend that, if possible, you use the ground rod as your first choice for grounding yourself and as a good second choice use a clamp on a water pipe.

Care of the Evolution silver sheets
  • Evolution silver sheets should be washed at 40-60 degrees Celsius with a liquid color laundry detergent only.
  • Do NOT use detergent containing any form of bleaching agents.
  • Do NOT use chlorine, bleaching agents, softeners or any other chemicals as they can destroy the silver.
  • Do NOT dry clean.
  • Hang the sheet to dry in shadow. Towards the end of the drying period you may tumble dry your sheet at low heat.
  • Do NOT use little perfumed dryer sheets in the tumble dryer.
  • You can iron the sheet with the iron set at nylon but there is no reason as it goes under your bottom sheet.
